DO YOU NEED AN ATTORNEY? Finding the right attorney to help with your legal matter is a serious task. If you’ve never had to hire a lawyer before, it can be especially difficult to know where to start. The Lawyer Referral Service matches insured, pre-screened attorneys with clients who seek their services. In most cases, we charge a $40 fee for a 30 minute consultation with a lawyer whose expertise and experience meet your needs. During that consultation, you may explain your case to the attorney and discuss how much the attorney would charge to represent you in the matter. Should you choose to retain the attorney’s services, all fees beyond the 30 minute consultation are at the attorney’s regular rates and retainers. The Lawyer Referral Service is a non-profit service sponsored by the El Paso County Bar Association as a means to match attorneys with clients who are able to pay customary attorney’s fees. We do not provide pro bono or low cost referrals. Why use the Lawyer Referral Service instead of the phone book? The answer is simple: we screen our attorneys with your best interests in mind. The attorneys we work with meet our criteria for ongoing legal education, relevant case work and insurance.
