This course provides attorneys with a practical understanding of personal property valuation and the appraisal process, from defining the assignment and appropriate standard of value to research, methodology, documentation, and reporting. Participants will learn how credible opinions of value are developed and supported, how to identify strengths and weaknesses in an appraisal, and how to work effectively with appraisal professionals. The course will also address contested values, expert testimony, and preparing the appraiser—and the appraisal—for deposition or trial.
